Carrboro Summer Nia Jam

  • Carrboro Century Center 100 North Greensboro Street Carrboro, NC, 27510 United States (map)

Shimmy your shizzle on down to the Carrboro Century Center Friday, June 7 from 7:00-8:30 pm to move with style and flare! Doors open 6:30 pm for general schmoosing.

Have fun with great music and movement from dance, martial and healing arts led by area teachers licensed in the Nia Technique. Marty Broda, Julie Hodson, Amy Schaich, Anne Shelton, Robin Poer are your jazzy jammers for this event.

Our inspiration and focus is on jazz, both as one of the 9 movement forms of Nia and as a uniquely American musical art form. With this focus we intend each individual to vibrantly express themselves authentically in community as we acknowledge the African American experience, recognizing the contribution of Jazz in our lives. Very timely this month as we celebrate Juneteenth, the 134th anniversary of the good news arriving to all that the 13th amendment had passed ending slavery. Come celebrate!

$3/person at the door - no registration required! Just drop in and dance with your community. No experience needed!
